Sound Design
(First Draft) - Planets/Engine
For Kraktoh I used my freezer for ambience, ice from a bag of broccoli in my freezer, and the sound of my voice for wind to create this ambience.
For D'Kuk I used the sound of my microwave, my voice for the gust of wind, and I turned a half empty bag of quinoa upside down to create a dust noise.

So for the sound of the engine I placed water in a wine glass, wet my finger, and moved it around the top to create a weird spaceship noise. This was pretty fun!
Revised (Final Draft) - Planets/Engine
I completely changed the sound giving it a deeper feel of the environment, I also added a sound of ice falling for the illusion that ice is falling in the distance.
I didn't do too much revision to this sound as the feedback I recieved from the client stated that it was what he was looking for, I just slowed it down per the client.
I cleaned the sound up with a little by passing it through a filter which I was able to cut the highs and filter out the air noise.
(First Draft) - Spaceship

With the vaporizer I had to get a little creative because I couldn't find anything in my kitchen to create this sound, I pressed a button on my microwave and processed the sound in filters.

For the teleport in I once again played with the wine glass and water, only this time I placed a little more water in the glass for a lower pitch and processed the sound after.

With the teleport out I simply reversed the sound of the teleport in to create an in/out feel of the sound.
Revised (Final Draft) - Spaceship
In this revision I added a little reverb and delay to match the length of time the vaporizer takes to fire. I also added a little punch turning up the mid by 2db.
I needed more control over the teleporting and I needed to extend the sound to match gameplay, so I tweaked my sci-fi filter to gain control and stretched the varispeed for length.
In this revision I copied all of the revisions I did for the teleport in and implemented them for the out to give them a mimicing effect.
(First Draft) - Barnaby
With the Barnaby creature I decided to go with a gremlin theme because this character is dimwitted. I searched westar music and found the character voice I thought matched best.
I continued with the gremlin theme and found a clip of a gremlin laughing, at the end of the clip it sounded distressed. I instantly though the creature would make this noise when vaporized.
This also gremlin noise from westar music sounded like a snicker, so I pushed it up an octive and processed to sound like a squeal after behing vaporized.
Revised (Final Draft) - Barnaby
I completely redesigned the feel of this creature. I decided to use a bear cub because when they cry it sounds like pain, I passed through a few filters to make bring this emotion to light.
My original sound of the gremlin didn't give me the emotion I was looking for plus the client wanted the vaporization to feel almost real but not human, so I designed this.
I followed the same strategy as the other revisions of this creature and kept the theme going. I played with a few filters and pitch to give the sound a little edge.
(First Draft) - Fnoon
I thought of this creature to be dirty, and the dirtiest animal I could think of is a pig. I took the sound of a pig, processed it a little, and slowed it down to sound like the Fnoon creature.
I took the snorting of a pig and I reversed it to get this sound of a creature snorting when moving about in the environment.
I took the grunt of a pig when the last Fnoon creature and I added an effect to the sound to create a groan when being vaporized.
Revision (Final Draft) - Fnoon
This revision was the most difficult because I didn't get the okay from the client in almost 4 weeks. I decided to use a walrus instead of a pig because it sounded more genuwine than the previous.
I tried to stick with the same theme here and play with the speed of the a walrus cry and mix it with my previous asset.
I took the grunt of the pig from previous and mixed it with the cry of a baby walrus to get this sound that feels like the Fnoon is being vaporized.
